Maayong Adlaw! (That means "Good day" in the Cebuano language.) Island Impact (e-mail to john@islandimpact.org) is a Christian church-planting ministry among the poor. We are currently based in the Philippines.
We — John and Juli Mory and our four young children — used to be a typical suburban family from California. Then the Lord moved us to the Philippines. For our first four years, we lived in a grass hut in the tropics. We love it here because we're seeing God's love and power transform even violent guerrillas and drunkards. And we've seen the Lord heal and do wonders for these people, who are among the poorest of the poor.
Browse our web site for exciting news about how the Lord is adding to our number daily those who are being saved (Acts 2:42-47). You can participate in this ministry by praying for it; prayer requests are listed at the bottom of the Ministry Overview page, and also on the web page for each church.
At present, we have a strong ministry to poor children, including a children's residential home, drop-in center, and education sponsorship program. We also have several established churches and church plants in the Philippines' Bohol Province:
- Campamanog church, on President Garcia's Island Pastor Andres Boyanos
- Bogo church, on President Garcia's Island Pastor Renato Cutanda
- Tagbilaran City church, on the Bohol mainland Pastor John Mory
- Sikatuna church, on the Bohol mainland Pastor Lito Buchan
- Dimiao church, on the Bohol mainland Pastor Tiney Yucyuc
- Basiao church, on President Garcia's Island Pastor Judith Cotomora
- Esterias church, on Cebu Island Pastor Rudico Cuizon; this church has over 80 members
- Inabanga church, on the Bohol mainland Pastor Orland Painagan; this church has over 40 adult members
- Balilihan church plant, on the Bohol mainland Pastor Valeria Cael
- Buena Vista church plant, on the Bohol mainland Pastor Ronnie Tacatani
We were sent here by the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Anaheim, California, USA. Island Impact is accountable to the Association of Vineyard Churches (AVC) although we work together with Christian churches and missionaries from other denominations all for the glory of God!
We are thankful to the Lord for His daily strength and direction, and we are forever grateful to all of you who have been at our side and on your knees on our behalf. We love you!
